Tubi Tuesday: The Hoarder 2015 (Spoiler-Free)

Happy Tuesday Horror Fans! I’ve found a pretty good scare for you all this week. I recently watched the film The Hoarder and let me tell you, this movie is unsettling in the best way. This film starts with our main character Ella (Mischa Barton) and her friend Molly (Emily Atack) showing up at the storage company where Ella's fiancé has a unit. Ella suspects he is hiding something from her and thinks it could be in the unit.

Ella and Molly make their way into the basement where the fiancé’s unit is located. After Molly gets inside, she is immediately attacked by something lurking in the unit. This creature starts chasing Molly and she makes her way back to the elevator, barely escaping. She runs into a police officer and he goes to investigate but comes back and tells Ella he didn't find her friend or anything suspicious. During this time the creature makes its way into the rest of the storage property and starts attacking other patrons one by one. At this point in the film, the storage property is locked down for the day so everyone is now trapped inside.

The setting of the storage unit makes for a disorienting adventure not only for the characters but for the audience as well. Additionally, The Hoarders holds the audience's attention with a short run time of 85 minutes and consistent pacing throughout. The creature is smart and uses items found in the many storage units to attack its victims, making for some fun kills. I also enjoy the idea of a group of strangers needing to work together to find a way out, but no one knows if anyone can fully be trusted.

The end reveal is sinister and the creature's origins left me feeling uneasy. The diverse cast of characters keeps you guessing, intensifying the suspense. The uncertainty about the creature's identity and intentions adds a layer of mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the film.
