Throwing it Back! In the Mouth of Madness (1995)

Writer's picture: BeckyBecky

This week back in 1995, a John Carpenter movie that made up the third and final installment of what he likes to call his 'Apocalypse Trilogy.'

In the U.S, 'In the Mouth of Madness' was released, receiving very mixed reviews.

It stars the awesome Sam Neill as an insurance investigator who is sent to a small town to find the missing horror author, Sutter Cane. This was a first watch for me recently, and I was honestly blown away. I thought it was fantastic. It was one of those 'Why have I never seen this before?' Films and jumped straight up into my favourites list.

I really loved the story of getting stuck inside the book. There were so many crazy things going on, that it really does make you feel a little crazy. I saw Greg Nicotero's name attached to this, so no surprise that the effects and gore were brilliant. There were some great, super creepy characters in this, and all of the actors did a great job.

If you also somehow have never seen this before, I highly recommend you watch it!
