Have you ever thought they should make a horror movie version of Night at the Museum? Well, they attempted to in 2007. House of Fears is currently streaming on Tubi, and I had a blast watching it. The film follows a group of teenagers who break into a scarehouse to go through it when no one is working. Slowly, the group gets picked off one by one in the different themed rooms.
We are shown an artifact at the beginning of the movie and show that it has been brought to this scarehouse for their mummy-themed room. However, this artifact is causing the scare mannequins to come alive and play out each character's deepest fear.
We see a vampire, a scarecrow, and a few other creatures during the film's 90-minute runtime. The kills are pretty interesting and I enjoyed the amount of backstory we got for some of the characters. I am a huge fan of the horrific Willy Wonka idea, where each person is picked off one at a time at some bizarre location. This movie delivers on the slasher vibe. For a low-budget film, the cast and crew made some great choices in focusing on lighting and tension, compared to focusing on cheap scares with too much blood.
Overall this film is worth the watch in my opinion. If you are a fan of the slasher genre then give it a go! It has a little something for everyone and offers consistent spooky vibes.
