It is that time of year when we are all craving something a little creepy and nostalgic.
If you're a fan of the Goosebumps series or the spine-tingling suspense of Clown in A Cornfield by Adam Cesare, you'll find a kindred spirit in The Harvest by John Ward.
It's a perfect match for your horror cravings.
I got the pleasure of beta-reading The Harvest before it was published, which was so cool!
I had such a blast following the Myers family as they moved to the unusual town of Waverly. (How would YOU feel living in a town with a group of ominous and strange scarecrows and a bit of an obsession with corn?)
One of my favorite things about this series is that it is a fantastic choice for children as young as ten and can be enjoyed by adults of all ages.
In John's signature style with this series, the reader gets a fun and unique scare with a lot of heart!
About the book:
"After suffering the loss of her father, the Myers family was left reeling. Mounting bills and inflation began to pile onto Melissa and her brother Zak’s mother. When she saw an advertisement on a house for sale in Waverly, Iowa, it almost seemed too good to be true. She jumped on the chance at a fresh start and an added affordability to be able to continue to raise her family.
When pulling into town for the first time, the Myers family noticed a long line of scarecrows lining the street next to a giant cornfield. A sign above them read “Scarecrow Row”. The ominous army of scarecrows would only be the beginning of their terrifying time in Waverly."

Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of The Dark, or Something Wicked This Way Comes
Super cool and creepy scarecrows
A good old-fashioned scare fest but...not too scary!
Family-focused characters that you can root for
Can't get enough of the scares?
We don't blame you! John won a Golden Scoop award for a reason.
Lucky for us all, there are six other books in the series to enjoy.
*I recommend How To Create a Monster. Johnny Rotten is ICONIC!
Be sure to grab the books in this series and join the #ScarevilleArmy.
Don't forget to read indie, and, as always...
Happy reading!
