Don't Break Into A Morgue - Play Dead Review (Spoiler Free)

Play Dead Movie Review

Happy Tuesday Horror Fans! This week I want to give my recommendation and review for Play Dead. What starts as a heist gone wrong soon becomes a cat-and-mouse thriller. The film begins with friends TJ and Ross planning to rob a dispensary and the plan soon goes wrong when Ross is shot and killed by the shop owner. TJ narrowly escapes and makes it home where he tells his sister Chloe what happened. We learn early on in the film that TJ and Chloe are on their own and struggling to keep their house after their mother passed away.

After talking to Chloe they realize they need to break into the morgue and get Ross’ phone, so TJ won't be looked at as the accomplice. They decide that Chole will be the one to break in and she does so by faking her death in order to get inside. Once in the morgue, she discovers a sinister secret that The Coroner and other city officials have been hiding.

Jerry O’Connell plays The Coroner and gives a truly disturbing performance. The tone of the film, once Chloe is in the morgue, gave me a sense of dread that lasted until the end. Just when I thought there wouldn't be any more surprises, I was confronted with another disturbing event in the film.

Play Dead does a great job of leaving the audience in suspense and giving a fresh feel to a cat-and-mouse chase since Chloe is the one to break into The Coroner's place and not the villain choosing the victim. Give this a watch if you are looking for something a bit fresh that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
