Borderline - Royal Poff

Hell, I don't even know where to start with this one! BORDERLINE is a brilliant LGBTQ+ psychological horror that kind of has a Limitless (the movie with Bradley Cooper) vibe, except with a lot more of severing your heart strings, far worse ramifications, and a cosmic entity that will creep and crawl around the inside of your skull rent-free once you read the first description of it.

Atari tries a new pill named Kronos, that he gets from his best friend Trigger. The second that pill slides down his throat, the lives of everyone in their friends group are on the fast track to destruction. When you don't know what's real and what's not, and you can't begin to fathom what's hunting you down, how do you protect yourself and the people you love?

The characters in this book are the absolute definition of relatable. We've all been one of these characters, or been friends with one of them. There's no flawless hero - just several real people trying to save each other from a horrific fate they don't understand. Royal takes us through the full spectrum of emotions: confusion, dread, sadness, hope, and some heartwarming scenes that give the characters depth and help you better understand their motivations.

If you're looking for an intense read that will leave you reeling, this is definitely a good place to start!
